The Bear Season 3: Release date and Cast

After the smashing success of season one & season two, fans are eagerly waiting for The Bear Season 3 episodes. Premiered on 23 June 2022, this series is about a rising young chef named Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) who comes to Chicago to run his brother’s sandwich shop.

According to Deadline, In November 2023, The Bear got renewed for it’s third season and in March 2024 it got renewed for it’s fourth season. Oh yeah! As of now The Bear Season 3 episodes are being filmed back to back and I simply couldn’t be more excited by this news.

The main cast members; Jeremy Allen White, Abby Elliot, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, L-boy, Matty Matheson, Oliver Platt, Molly Gordon, and Lisa Colon-Zayas are expected to return for the upcoming Emmy winning show.

As per the reports The Bear season 3 is about to premiere on June 2024 and it’s sure to make headlines when it premieres on Hulu.

Why you should Binge this outstanding comedy series. A quick review of season one and season two:
The Bear Season one review:
I love the fact that season one sets the stage and the mood right from the first episode. Carmy takes over the family shop that is going downhill after his brother Michael (Jon Brenthal) commits suicide. Bills are overdue, staff’s salary is not paid for months, business isn’t making profit and he has a debt of $ 300,000 that he owes to his uncle Cicero (Oliver Platt). When I saw the first few episodes of this series I was shocked to see the dark side of running a small food restaurant.

I must say the writers and director have done a fabulous job of capturing the essence of struggle faced by young adults, middle class families, and the pressure of succeeding in life.

Carmy has a sister Natalie (Abby Elliot), his cousin Richie (Ebon Moss- Bachrach) a sous chef Sydney (Ayo Edebri), pastry chef Marcus (L-boy), chef Tina (Lisa Colon-Zayas) and Fak (Matty Matheson) the mechanic who are part of his working team.

The restaurant business looks hard to manage over each passing day and Carmy has only one option; sell the restaurant to uncle Cicero and repay the debt. Of-course he refuses this offer and works hard to bring the business back on track. However, his efforts are wasted as nothing seems to be working in his favor. Cousin Richie isn’t focused and organized, kitchen staff is not cooperative, Sydney finds it odd to work in a restaurant that lacks basic amenities. And amongst all this chaos Carmy is secretly dealing with depression, panic attacks and death of his brother.

Things start to get better when Natalie, in a effort to help his brother, asks Carmy to attend a support group. Carmy secretly starts visiting the group and tries to understand his brothers addiction problem. Over the time he starts connecting with his cousin, Sydney, Natalie and the kitchen staff on a slightly personal level. But now the restaurant has a new trouble after a health inspector discovers issues with safety and sanitation and he gives a rating of “C” to the restaurant; which mean less customers, low profits and more expenditure. Sounds disheartening right?

Carmy and his team do everything to keep the business afloat. In order to make money they cater to uncle Cicero’s kid birthday party. Then on one occasion they get into a argument with the gangsters nearby so that the customers don’t stop visiting The Bear. And then there is an incident when a fuse blows off and the work halts completely. But hey cousin Richie, Sydney & Fak come to rescue and save the day!

By the end of the season one Carmy feels defeated with no positive change in the business. Both his chefs Sydney & Marcus quit the restaurant after Carmy’s outburst. Natalie gets a notice regarding unpaid restaurant tax and cousin Richie nearly kills a guest. The drama doesn’t stop till the last episode.

Richie gives Carmy a letter, which is left to him by his brother Michael. The letter includes a spaghetti recipe with the direction to use smaller cans of tomatoes because it tastes better! Sounds weird right ? Wait, the plot thickens!

When Carmy opens the cans he finds hundred dollar bills hidden inside in each one of them. The season ends with a sign board announcing The Bear opening soon and his team uniting for the new beginning.

The Bear Season two review:
After Carmy finds the money hidden by his brother, he and his team agree to invest the amount to renovate the restaurant. Natalie gets onboard as a Project Manager, Fak takes care of the repair and maintenance.
In midst of this Carmy sends his pastry chef Marcus to Denmark; to learn new desserts and Richie is sent to a Michelin star restaurant for an internship. Meanwhile, Carmy and Sydney work on preparing new menu.

In this season a new character Claire (Molly Gordon) is introduced. She is an old friend of Carmy and has a big crush on him. They accidently meet one day and though Carmy gives her a wrong contact number but she manages to get through him. Natalie, Fak & Cousin Richie are happy with Claire’s arrival but Sydney feels left out as Carmy’s focus shifts from the restaurant.

There is one flashback episode in this season which is my absolute favorite. After two years Carmy visits his family on Christmas and his mother Donna (Jamie Lee Curtis) is super thrilled to host a dinner. She single handedly takes charge of cooking for everyone which off course takes a toll on her. But her real issue is that she drinks too much.

Things turn ugly when Michael too gets high and gets into a heated argument with uncle Lee. When Donna arrives at the table for dinner she is hungover and stressed out. The scene ends on a dramatic note and I must say that it’s shocking and funny at the same time.

Only few days are left before the opening of the restaurant & panic looms over the passing of fire suppression test. At last minute Fak finds the solution and and saves the day. Fak is the character that made me laugh the most. He is goofy, naïve, helpful and a true friend that Carmy can count on. I loved his scenes with cousin Richie, and their on and off banter.

After the fire suppression test I thought maybe the show would end on a happy note but hey that would mean no more The Bear Season 3. In the final episode the team is ready with their menu and they open the restaurant for family and friends. Carmy, Sydney, Marcus and other chefs take over the kitchen. Richie is at the reception taking care of guests and Natalie is supervising almost everything.

The guests are impressed with the dinning experience, the food, and the personal attention given to each by Richie. In the kitchen Sydney successfully handles the pressure of multiple orders and she comes across as a total champ. But, just when everything is going fine the writers hit me with a full blown drama.

Carmy accidently ends up locking himself in the fridge and gets into a self loathing mode. At one end Sydney, Richie, Natalie, Marcus and Fak are smoothly handling the customers at the restaurant and at the same time Carmy is locked up inside. He is furious, and worried about the the success and failure of the new restaurant. The episode ends with a cliffhanger and I’ve no doubt in my mind as to why the audience is desperately waiting for The Bear Season 3.

After a long time I came across a dark humor show which captivated my mind and heart. I think what really works for The Bear is it’s close attention to detail about the problems faced by small food business, and it’s impact on the lives of people who’re running it. Furthermore, each character in The Bear is well written and I could relate to their emotional side. Also the characters are complex and not one dimensional, which makes them more relatable.

It’s definitely a show that I strongly recommend that you should watch and like every other fan I’m eagerly waiting for The Bear Season 3 premiere.
