Since his debut movie “The Mummy Returns” in 2001, Dwayne Johnson has seen massive success in Hollywood. I still remember the day when he announced his retirement from WWE, man I was shocked and disappointed. But hey, how long can a guy torture his body for the sake of entertainment? So when the “The great one” left WWE, I stopped watching wrestling.
Dwayne Johnson, aka “The Rock” initially did seem unfit for Hollywood. His earlier films like The “Scorpion King”, “Walking Tall”, and “The Rundown” looked the same. For a moment I thought maybe he should get back to wrestling but man I was wrong. All this time when Hollywood casted him as an action guy, they overlooked his funny side. All the WWE fans will agree that, Dwayne is hilarious when it comes to comedy.
With films like “The Game Plan”, “Get Smart” “Tooth Fairy” and “Pain and Gain” he made his mark in Hollywood. Today he is one of the most popular actor worldwide alongside Tom Cruise, Leonardo Di Caprio and Robert Downey Jr. And why not, with massive hits like “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”, “Moana” and “Fast & Furious 7” it makes sense. I mean $14.9 billion box office collection through all his movies is not a joke.
Dwayne Johnson Is The Smashing Machine

I remember last year Dwayne announced via his Instagram handle that he will play the role of MMA fighter Mark Kerr. I must say it was such a pleasure to see him challenge himself as an actor. Yes, it’s a film about wrestling and he is doing action but hey, this one is different from all his other movies.
Directed by Benny Safdie, “The Smashing Machine” is a film that shows the rise and fall of a wrestler. Dwayne Johnson as Mark Kerr is phenomenal and he earnestly portrays the complex life of a wrestler. Emily Blunt who plays his wife, is stellar and captivating. In my opinion this is one of her best performance. In fact after watching their performance I wont be surprised if the lead actors get nominated for an Oscar.
