The prequel to Hunger Games just got launched and man it looks amazing. Lionsgate movies recently dropped the teaser “The Hunger Games :Sunrise on the reaping.” And I must say it looks phenomenal. The movie is a prequel and it explores Panem 24 years before Katniss Saga. Now before you get all excited I must say that the movie is slated for release next year, which is November 20, 2026.
The movie stars Elle Fanning, Mckenna Grace and Joseph Zada in lead roles and it is directed by Francis Lawrence.
Everything we know so far about Sunrise on the reaping…

Ralph Fiennes is taking over Donald Sutherland’s role as President Snow. In his interview to Entertainment Tonight, Fiennes, said “I worked with Donald Sutherland once. I thought he was fantastic. He further added “Obviously big shoes to sort of stand alongside of, but he brought wonderful complexity to that part. I’m challenged but excited.”
Furthermore the movie also stars Oscar winner Kieran Culkin and an Academy award nominee Glenn Close.
Kieran Culkin is reprising the role of Caesar Flickerman, which was earlier played by Stanley Tucci. Kieran who is famous for playing the charismatic character Roman Roy in the series Succession, is a great choice for Flickerman. But hey, looks like Kieran is nervous taking up this role. During one of his promotional tour the actor said “Lower those expectations please. Please do. I’ve no idea what I’m gonna do with that” Having said that, I know he will nail the performance.
The movie is an adaptation of dystopian novel “Sunrise on the reaping” written by Suzanne Collins.
