The latest controversy about Jimmy Kimmel getting fired

The late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel is having troubled time over his comment on Charlie Kirk. In his recent opening monologue, Kimmel said the “Maga gang” was “desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them” and trying to “score political points from it”.

Well this isn’t the first time Kimmel has made headlines over his political views. In the past he has often criticized Trump’s administration and faced backlash from the republicans. Whether it is Trump’s tariff plans, Epstein files or forest fire issues, Kimmel has voiced his concern. However this time ABC pulled the show off air “indefinitely” over his comment on political activist Charlie Kirk.

What did people say on Jimmy Kimmel suspension

The moment “The Jimmy Kimmel Live” went off air, the news spread across US like a wildfire. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), chairman, Brendan Carr, accused Kimmel of misleading American public and demanded an apology. Furthermore, Nexstar media, one of biggest TV stations in US, said , they will not air Kimmel’s show for the “foreseeable future”.

President Trump while addressing the media said Kimmel is fired “for the lack of talent.” Now I appreciate the sarcasm but I think he is right to an extent. Nevertheless, there are people who have come forward in Kimmel’s support.

David Letterman said “you can’t go around firing somebody because you’re fearful or trying to suck up to an authoritarian, criminal administration in the Oval Office”.

Conan O’Brien on x.com said: “Suspension of Kimmel and the promise to silence other Late Night hosts should disturb everyone…”.

Ben Stiller on x.com said: “This isn’t Right”.

Kathy Griffin on Instagram asked her supporters to “be vocal”, and said “It’s important to have Jimmy Kimmel’s back right now”.

The Current status

As of now I don’t think Jimmy Kimmel is in any rush to comeback. The guy is enjoying his layoff and why not. I mean 23 seasons of talk show is not a joke. Everyday one goes through the same routine and after a point the job gets boring. I remember when Craig Ferguson, my favorite late night talk show host called quits. He said “I’m done. I want to take some time off and then come back stronger”.

Well there is one difference with Jimmy though, his goodbye is involuntary. For now the affair is too hot and late night shows are under political radar. In fact Trump now wants NBC to cancel Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers show as well. So much for freedom of speech. I know that doesn’t mean one can say anything. For now let Kimmel enjoy his break time, and let Matt Damon enjoy his suspension. Wink, Wink!
